 WELCOME TO THE
AUSTRALIAN VETERANS GROUP POST 1975

What are we about?

As there were no other ex-service organisations that had the facilities to cater for younger veterans and their young families, a group of these veterans got together and formed the Australian Veterans Group Post 1975 in Hervey Bay.

AVGP75 offers peer-to-peer support to younger veterans, including those who are now returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. It is essential for Veterans to be able to safely, and confidentially, talk about issues such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance use issues, family issues, jobs, benefits.

The importance of peer support is that these Veterans will trust and talk to a fellow Veteran in most cases before they will a psychiatrist, psychologist, social worker, or DVA doctor. Peers offer each other an understanding that comes from having experienced a similar situation or problem.

As the majority of these veterans have younger families (toddlers and up), the Group gives like-minded people and families the chance to meet and also assist veterans and family members to connect to the existing network/s of qualified support.

Whether you, or a family member, have served in the Army, Navy, Air Force or AFP on operational deployment, peacekeeping missions or during peace time and you're interested in meeting like-minded people, come and be a part of the Australian Veterans Group Post 1975!
